CBD Has Anti-Inflammatory Properties

The body’s endocannabinoid system (ECS) is responsible for regulating sleep, appetite, and pain. It also regulates the body’s immune system response. These neurotransmitters are a natural part of the central nervous system.
All mammals, including humans, have an endocannabinoid system. When the ECS is dysregulated, chronic pain and inflammation are often the results.

Sixty-two percent of people using CBD use it to treat their joint and arthritis pain and the chronic pain of conditions such as fibromyalgia and multiple sclerosis. Preclinical studies sponsored by the National Institutes of Health are investigating users’ claims.
Scientists believe CBD works through the central nervous system and at the site of localized joint pain. Several studies indicate that CBD offers successful pain relief for osteo- and rheumatoid arthritis.
Continuing preclinical animal studies reinforce those findings. Human studies show users tolerate CBD well and experience fewer side effects than other prescription pain relievers. Opioids and stronger pain medications can be addictive—CBD is not.
